Vertigo films (uk) would be a very appropriate company to distribute our Thriller. Firstly Vertigo Films have previously produced and distributed films with a similar theme, which is how drugs can often have severe side effects. I believe they would be very interested in distributing our film as a follow on from their previous film ‘Shrooms’ the storyline is unlike ours as ours has a much more detailed plot which is what I believe they were missing from there film ‘Shrooms’.
Vertigo films are not a huge company, however I believe they will be perfect for us as i’m sure they will also appreciate the complexity and popularity of the type of Thriller we have produced. Vertigo films produce a range of genres but there film ‘Shrooms’ is a Psychological Thriller which contains similar conventions to my Thriller. ‘Shrooms’ was very popular within the university scene which means their company will already have a fairly good reputation from the target audience, which means they will be able to distribute o ur film directly aimed at this audience.
The benefits of using and independent British producer over an American, large scale producer would be that the British producer will have much more effective knowledge when it comes to addressing or advertising to our target audience as our Thriller contains social factors that relate quite closely to the UK. It will also be much easier to secure a deal with a local producer over a huge multimillion dollar American producer.
